The Public Works department is regularly repairing and maintaining approximately 130 miles of Township roads. This includes street cleaning, line painting, snow plowing, permanent repair of roads, as well as patching and sealing.

The UMT Police Department actively works to resolve traffic issues in our Township. See the latest updates and projects from the Good Neighbor Coalition.

Turnpike Reconstruction & Widening: PA Turnpike Commission

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) provided an updated overview of the projects/plans to reconstruct and widen the Turnpike to public officials, and explained various project issues affecting the local municipalities, including the need to reconstruct and widen the bridges carrying state and local roadways over the Turnpike before roadway reconstruction, and widening could occur. They have reached the point where four of the overhead bridges in the project area will proceed to construction.

The Bridges include:

Indian Creek Road Bridge (SR 2018) at MP A52.29 – Construction to begin in February 2023, with a target completion date of November 2024
- Indian Creek Road, SR 2018, Public Plan Display
Tilghman Street Bridge (SR 1002) at MP A57.06 – Construction to begin in March 2023, with a target completion date of November 2024
- Tilghman St., SR 1002, Public Plan Display

Attached are informational display boards for each of the four bridges, which show a detailed project map, the anticipated project timeline, and the detour route or staged construction typical sections. These display boards are also available on the Turnpike’s website at the following links.

Street Lights

Repair or Replacement of Street Lights

PPL provides the maintenance on all Township street lights. You can report the problem directly to PPL.

Please report all street light maintenance requests to the PPL Customer Contact Center at 1-800-342-5775. They will need to know the pole location and any identification numbers that are tagged on the pole.
