The untimely death of Township Supervisor Samir P. Ashmar has left a vacancy on the Board.  If anyone is interest in being considered for the appointment to the vacant seat, please submit:  your resume; statement of intent of why you would like to be considered; the number of Township meetings you have attended in the last year, i.e., Board of Supervisors, Zoning Hearing Board, Planning Commission, Recreation Board, and/or Sewer Authority; and, political party affiliation.  The deadline for submission is Tuesday, December 2nd and must be sent by e-mail to Daniel Olpere, Township Manager, at dolpere@uppermac.org.  By law, the applicant must be an elector of the Township and has resided in the township continuously for at least one year prior to appointment.



1Upper Macungie Township’s Samir “Sam” P. Ashmar, Vice Chairman of the Board of Supervisors died suddenly Thursday evening, November 20, 2014. Administration and staff wish to extend their deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy.

Sam Ashmar was a great leader, an exceptional man, a devoted husband and father, a dedicated Fire Marshal and a true friend to many. Our prayers are with the family, his beloved wife Sharon, cherished children, Makala and Joshua as well Station 56 and the entire Upper Macungie Township community. Our admiration for his many accomplishments is enduring. We all will miss you dearly and thank you for your service to our Township. Rest well our friend.

Due to the popularity of RT 100 Dog Park and excessive wear and tear, the large fenced area is closed.  Currently, only the small fenced area is open to all dogs.

Enter at your own risk. 

We are also in the planning stages of opening another Dog Park at Grange Park to meet the needs of the growing demand.



Waste Management will operate on a one day delay starting November 27th.

Sealed bids to furnish Proposals to perform a Review and Study of Municipal Volunteer Fire Company(ies) Services, will be received until 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 15, 2014, by Upper Macungie Township in the office of Mr. Grant Grim, Fire Commissioner, Upper Macungie Township, 8330 Schantz Road, Breinigsville, Pennsylvania.Copies of the the Proposal Documents and complete specifications may be obtained from the office of Upper Macungie Township beginning immediately between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Information can also be obtained at www.uppermac.org or download a copy here. The Board of Supervisors of Upper Macungie Township reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to accept the Proposal which is in the best interest of Upper Macungie Township, as more fully set forth in the Request for Proposals.

For your convenience, Upper Macungie Township provides property owners with the means to properly dispose of their leaves and yard wastes. Our Yard Waste Drop off site is located at the corner of Schantz & Grim Road in Breinigsville.

This position is also responsible for managing and setting up new accounts for customers and new construction and conduct yearly water flow audits.  Must be able to interact politely and professionally with companies and residents over the phone and in person. Ideal candidate should have good oral, written and organizational skills, possess attention to detail, proficiency with systems and technology, MS Office with the capability of doing spreadsheets, and be able to work in a team environment. Helpful additional skills will include basic knowledge of municipal authority process and IT experience is desired, but not required. Schantz Road is closed between Arrowhead Lane/Twin Ponds to Adams Road/Tillage Road. The PennDOT road project has an anticipated completion date in July 2015 and will involve the removal of the “S-curve”. This will make for a very challenging 15 months.
