ROAD CREW LABORER - Upper Macungie Township is currently accepting applications/resumes for the position of a full time ROAD CREW LABORER- within the Public Works Dept.

This position is required to meet all laborer functions & be able to work as part of a team. Have the ability to operate heavy equipment, knowledge of road work projects, have experience in road maintenance, and able to interact with the public in a courteous way. Required to work in all types of weather.  Able to lift up to 50 lbs. & perform strenuous and repetitive work. Must have a PA B CDL license with a good driving record. This position reports to the Crew Leaders as well as the Director of Public Works and is a full time hourly position. SEWER AUTHORITY MANAGER—The Upper Macungie Township Sewer Authority seeks an experienced leader to serve as its Authority Manager, who will manage all administrative and financial technical operations. The Authority owns and operates a collection system of 120 miles, with 3000 manholes, and 6 pump stations with an average flow of 5,800,000 GPD.  The total budget is $7 million per year with 11 employees including 6 crew members responsible for system maintenance. In 2000 the township population was 22,000.

The UMTSA is a customer of the Lehigh County Authority, which owns and is responsible for the major interceptor lines, a 5.75 MGD pre-treatment plant and a 40 MGD treatment plant located in Allentown. The main treatment plant itself handles the treatment requirements for 14 municipalities. The Authority has 7000 residential customers and 360 commercial/industrial customers including large factories and other heavy sewer users. The Authority has a very pro-active program to combat inflow and infiltration problems with the collection system being in excellent physical condition.   The Authority will also be responsible for administering the Pennsylvania Sewerage Facilities Act 537 governing 775 on-site sewer systems.  The Authority has a monthly/quarterly billing cycle. The Authority is also in good financial condition with no outstanding debt.

The Manager will report to the sewer authority executive director/township manager.  The authority is governed by a five-member Authority Board appointed by the Township Board of Supervisors.  Candidates should have management experience, leadership skills, financial/budget experience and skills including knowledge of modern billing practices; as well as technical knowledge of sewer collection systems.  Wastewater treatment plant experience is not required but desirable; public sector experience is preferred, but not required.  An engineering degree is highly preferred, but will consider relevant experience in all facets of the operations. Salary $65-80,000 with excellent employer-paid benefits; actual salary to be based on experience/qualifications.
