What is the Citizens Police Academy:
This exciting opportunity will allow adult participants to get a behind-the-scenes look at police work through the eyes of officers that perform their duties on a daily basis. Students will get extensive teaching in regards to SWAT, K-9, drug investigations, criminal investigations, and more.

The 2017 Community Police Academy will begin on Saturday, October 14th with additional classes on October 21st, October 28th, and November 11th. Classes will begin promptly at 1000 hrs. (10:00 am) and conclude at 1200 hrs. (12 noon). Most of the classes will be held at the Upper Macungie Township Police Department headquarters located at 37 Grim Road, Breinigsville, PA 18031. All applicants will be subject to a background investigation. The Upper Macungie Township Police Department reserves the right to refuse admittance to those who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony in the last 5 years. All applications will be reviewed and handled on a case-by-case basis. Any questions regarding background information can be forwarded to Officer William Rohrbach (see contact information below).

*No weapons will be permitted at police headquarters, as well as any off- campus location directly involved in the community police academy.

* The academy class will be limited to 30 students. Applications will be excepted on a first come, first serve basis. Upper Macungie residents will have first priority seating, however the class is welcome to all Pennsylvania residents. *

 

Police are on the front lines of public safety, preventing and investigating crime, protecting and aiding citizens, and ready to put their lives at risk for people they’ve never met. You have the opportunity to take an inside look at the department, and the remarkable organization of people. Together, we can create a coalition of citizens and police working together to make Upper Macungie Township an even safer place to work and live.
