PUBLIC NOTICE- Changes to the PA Building Codes:
As the result of PA Act 36 of 2017, Effective October 1, 2018, the PA UCC (Uniform Construction Code) changes! This law adopts the 2015 Building Codes as the new minimum construction standards. See full Public Notice here.
Any applications received on or after 10/01/18 will be reviewed, approved and inspected under the 2015 Codes*. Complete applications received prior to 10/01/18 will be reviewed, approved and inspected under the 2009 codes.

FIREFIGHTING OPEN HOUSE: Ever thought about being a volunteer firefighter?
Station #56 is having an Open House on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 12:00pm- 3:00pm at the Upper Macungie Township Station #56 (6510 Schantz Road, Allentown, PA 18104).

SPECIAL RECREATION BOARD MEETING: a special meeting will be held on October 1, 2018 at 7pm in the township meeting room to discuss the Capital Campaign for the Recreational Community Center.
WERLEY ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE: A final inspection for Werley Road is scheduled for October 18, 2018. If the inspection is passed, Werley Road will re-open by October 19, 2018. A detour plan can be found here.

CLARIFICATION OF INFORMATION PROVIDED TO THE CITIZENS OF UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP:
On or about August 6, 2018 Mr. Ed Colon sent information an e-mail to undisclosed recipients informing them of “a matter of public interest to the citizens of Upper Macungie Township. On September 6, 2018, many of those friends and neighbors attended the Board of Supervisors meeting to discuss the matters presented to them by Mr. Colon. The Board of Supervisors believes that the information provided by Mr. Colon failed to provide certain information necessary to accurately understand the information presented by Mr. Colon. Therefore, the Township would like to provide our residents with additional information in response to allegations presented by Mr. Colon. GRANT OPPORTUNITY: Senator Pat Browne has provided information on a Pennsylvania DEP grant opportunity to farmers and small businesses for pollution prevention, energy efficiency and natural resource protection projects through the Small Business Advantage grants. SAFE SITTER CLASSES: Upper Macungie Township has partnered with The Nanny Loft to offer Safe Sitter® classes. The classes prepare students in grades 6-12 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who’s choking, and helpful information like what to do if there’s severe weather. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use CPR manikins to practice choking rescue! Click here to register.
PPL will be conducting Herbicide Application in our Township: The work will be done on tall brush at 847 Mosser Road between Willard Drive and Twin Ponds Rd between June and September in order to ensure reliable power.
