COMMERCIAL/RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CODE INSPECTION, ZONING & CODE COMPLIANCE SERVICES REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS AND QUALIFICATIONS (RFP)
Upper Macungie Township is soliciting proposals and qualifications for a provider of Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC) COMMERCIAL BUILDING CODE INSPECTION SERVICES in accord with its May 15, 2019 RFP from those COMMERCIAL/RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CODE PLAN REVIEW & INSPECTION, ZONING & CODE COMPLIANCE SERVICES firms with at least ten (10) years of Pennsylvania Municipal/Township COMMERCIAL/RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CODE INSPECTION, ZONING & CODE COMPLIANCE SERVICES experience. The RFP is available at the Upper Macungie Township Municipal Building, 8330 Schantz Road, Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, 18031 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday, excluding holidays, or by CLICKING HERE.
All proposals shall be made upon letterhead stationery. One (1) clearly marked original and five (5) clearly marked complete copies (including all attachments) of each proposal shall be submitted and delivered to: Robert Ibach, Jr., Upper Macungie Township Manager, 8330 Schantz Road, Breinigsville, Pennsylvania, 18031 prior to 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Friday, June 14, 2019. Envelopes shall be sealed and marked “Proposal and Qualifications for Township COMMERCIAL/RESIDENTIAL BUILDING CODE INSPECTION, ZONING & CODE COMPLIANCE SERVICES”.
The Upper Macungie Township Board of Supervisors reserves the right to choose the proposal(s) which, in its judgment, is best suited for the intended purposes and reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, with or without cause, and waive any irregularities or informalities in the proposals. The Township reserves the right to re-solicit proposals. The Township may appoint one or more professional firms providing UCC services.

MONTHLY RECREATION BOARD MEETING LOCATION CHANGE: The May Recreation Board meeting will take place at Breinigsville Park at 7pm instead of the Township Municipal Building on Thursday, May 16 2019.

The Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC) recently debuted the above video as part of its brand new “Made Possible in Lehigh Valley” marketing campaign. Several businesses throughout the region are featured, including Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 company which has been headquartered in Upper Macungie for many years and recently chose to remain in the township where it will build its new World Headquarters.

SEEKING NEW MEMBERS: The Friends of Upper Macungie Township Parks & Recreation, Inc. is seeking new members.
This Organization provides services to Upper Macungie Township Parks & Recreation, operating within the guidelines of a 501C3. The Organization’s activities are to be exclusively in furtherance of the improving the parks, recreation and public open space within the Township and shall operate cooperatively with the Township and its Parks and Recreation Board. The purpose of the Friends, is inclusive but not limited to, To contribute positively to the parks and recreation environment of the Township, To provide an opportunity for acquisition, maintenance, support and growth of recreation activities, To provide an opportunity for Township residents to enjoy and experience a better style of life due to better recreation opportunities.
Meetings are not more than monthly. Any Resident of Upper Macungie Township 18 years of age or older is eligible for membership.

PUBLIC NOTICE- Changes to the PA Building Codes:
As the result of PA Act 36 of 2017, Effective October 1, 2018, the PA UCC (Uniform Construction Code) changes! This law adopts the 2015 Building Codes as the new minimum construction standards. See full Public Notice here.
Any applications received on or after 10/01/18 will be reviewed, approved and inspected under the 2015 Codes*. Complete applications received prior to 10/01/18 will be reviewed, approved and inspected under the 2009 codes.

CLARIFICATION OF INFORMATION PROVIDED TO THE CITIZENS OF UPPER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP:
On or about August 6, 2018 Mr. Ed Colon sent information an e-mail to undisclosed recipients informing them of “a matter of public interest to the citizens of Upper Macungie Township. On September 6, 2018, many of those friends and neighbors attended the Board of Supervisors meeting to discuss the matters presented to them by Mr. Colon. The Board of Supervisors believes that the information provided by Mr. Colon failed to provide certain information necessary to accurately understand the information presented by Mr. Colon. Therefore, the Township would like to provide our residents with additional information in response to allegations presented by Mr. Colon.
